Generate JSON-LD product schema for Shopify
The Product Schema Generator creates structured data that helps search engines understand product name, brand, price, availability, SKU, image, and review information.
Why product schema matters
Clean product schema can improve eligibility for product rich results and helps AI systems extract accurate product details from ecommerce pages.

Which Product fields Google actually requires
Product structured data has a small required core and a long recommended tail. Missing a required field makes the page ineligible; missing a recommended one usually just narrows what can appear in the result.
| Field | Status | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| name | Required | Identifies the product |
| image | Required for rich results | No image, no product appearance |
| offers (price, priceCurrency, availability) | Required for merchant listings | Drives price and stock display |
| brand | Recommended | Helps entity matching |
| gtin, mpn or sku | Strongly recommended | Matches your product to the same product elsewhere |
| aggregateRating, review | Optional | Eligible only for genuine customer reviews, not self-authored ones |
| shippingDetails, hasMerchantReturnPolicy | Recommended | Can surface delivery cost and returns window in the result |
Why Shopify stores end up with conflicting markup
The most common structured-data problem on Shopify is not missing markup — it is several sources emitting their own version of it. A theme ships Product schema, a review app adds its own with ratings attached, and an SEO app writes a third. Google then receives several conflicting descriptions of one product on one page.
Before adding markup, check what the page already outputs. View the rendered source and count the Product nodes. If there is more than one, the fix is consolidation rather than addition.
Two further failures are worth checking because a validator will not always catch them: markup describing content that is not visible on the page, which is a policy violation rather than a shortcut; and prices hardcoded into the markup rather than bound to live product data, which go stale the first time you run a sale.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I put product schema in Shopify?
Product schema should usually be added to the product template or theme head so it appears only on product detail pages. The JSON-LD should match the visible product information.
Does schema guarantee rich results?
No. Schema makes a page eligible for rich results, but Google decides whether to show them based on quality, relevance, trust, and compliance with structured data guidelines.
